The Sutherland County Show

One attraction held in Dornoch every July is the Sutherland County Show. People come from all over the Highlands to enjoy the animal shows, the entertainment and hospitality (food and drink, but it isn’t free).

This is huge fun for anybody not used to local agricultural shows and an interesting alternative to the other Highlands attractions.

Everybody enjoys the schools pipe band, the animal competitions and the riding.

Kids of all ages enjoy the fun fair whilst mothers visit the bakery competitions and fathers hang out in the bars.

The Sutherland County Show isn’t T in the Park but in the evening teenagers and the young at heart get to enjoy there own version of the show with lots of booze and loud rock bands.

All in all visitors to Dornoch in July should make a special point of attending the Sutherland County Show, because it’s simply charming, and good fun.

Here’s a short video showing the:

  • vintage agricultural machines
  • animal showings with really cute ponies and the Clydesdale winner
  • bright and big farm machines
  • kids at the funfair
  • Schools Pipe Band
