The history of Dornoch and the history in Dornoch make it a must see destination for anybody interested in the spread of Christianity, the Jacobite Revolution, the Highland Clearances. It’ll also be interesting for architecture lovers.

The award winning History Links exhibition tells the story starting way back in the 13th Century and brings the visitor right up to date.

Exhibition is small enough to get around in less than an hour, even for the most interested and staffed by friendly locals. Don’t miss it.

The citation highlights Historylinks’ very high quality of displays and the ability to engage the attention of visitors from the very small to very senior, with a wide range of subjects and an excellent standard of interpretation.

All past and present Historylinks trustees, Heritage Society officers, members and volunteers share in this notable achievement, which marks the long term programme of development of the museum. Teamwork has been the key to innovation and enhancement in museum displays, exhibitions, publications, film production, the shop and web sites, plus the complementary “back-room” activities of cataloguing acquisitions, the development of protocols and procedures, and routine administration.

Rather than resting on their laurels the trustees say they welcome ideas and offers of individual skills in new developments and projects to consolidate the newly won position by further innovation.

They thank shops, local tradesmen and professionals for their support in advertising, building services and advice over the years.
