North West Scotland in June

Beaches in Scotland are awesome -at least in the North they are. Invariably in the Highlands beaches are covered in soft sand, clean and pretty much empty, for miles.

But this particular beach is simply stunning. It’s out of the way so you have to make a special trip to it, and there’s a short but fairly steep climb from the excellent car park over the hill and down to the beach.

You’ll see its very sheltered sitting in the natural harbour so even on stormy days this will a haven.

These pictures were taken on the last day of May which isn’t often the best time for weatherin the Highlands. This day it was 75 degrees with a pure blue sky. We’d recently returned from the British Virgin Islands so we were used to that, but we hadn’t come across anything like Oldshoremore Bay in the Caribbean.

Nobody would believe just how fantastic a beach in the Highlands can be, but these pictures give a pretty good idea.
